Internship J-1 Visa
The French-American Chamber of Commerce is a U.S. Department of State designated J-1 visa sponsor and has proudly sponsored qualified candidates for international exchange for over 45 years. As a J-1 visa sponsor, we actively promote the mission of the Fulbright-Hays Act of 1961, which aims to increase mutual understanding through exchange experiences.
The J-1 visa program encourages cultural exchange by allowing exchange visitors to come to the United States for up to 12 months as Interns or for up to 18 months as Trainees to participate in full time, paid, practical training programs at eligible FACC member companies. These programs are extremely beneficial for both candidates and host companies, and serve to further diplomatic ties between the U.S. and the world.
As sponsor, our role is to facilitate the application process and issue the Certificate of Eligibility, Form DS-2019. With this document, a foreign candidate with the offer of an internship or training program from an eligible company in the United States may apply for J-1 visa at the American Embassy in Paris.
With 20 affiliated chapters representing all major U.S. cities, the FACC provides access to expansive opportunities in New York City as well as to industry-specific cities throughout the United States.
